Situated in Clashanure, Ovens — just 15 minutes from Cork City — Lee Valley Golf Club features an 18-hole championship parkland course designed by Irish golfing legend Christy O’Connor Jnr.
The course officially opened in 1992–1993 with a memorable exhibition match between Christy O’Connor Jnr and Fred Couples. Since then, it has become a cornerstone of Irish golf, cherished by members and visitors alike.
The Keohane family — Jerry, Peg, Paul and David — have been central to the club’s journey, nurturing Lee Valley from its early days into one of Munster’s most respected golf clubs.
In 2009, future Open Champion Shane Lowry captured the Lee Valley Senior Scratch Cup, adding a special chapter to the club’s proud sporting history.
Celebrating Lee Valley Ladies & Girls Provincial and National Success
Before becoming a household name in professional golf, Shane Lowry made his mark at Lee Valley Golf Club. In 2009, ranked 15th in the World Amateur Rankings, he claimed the Senior Scratch Cup—his last major amateur tournament before turning professional. Over 54 challenging holes, Lowry showcased his skill and composure, posting rounds of 70, 72, and 70 for a total of 214 strokes. This memorable victory remains a proud moment in the club’s history.
